Bridal henna is the longest and most detailed work we do. It starts at 50 OMR and covers hands, arms, feet and legs in a single sitting. Ramziya has been doing bridal mehndi in Oman for over 13 years, almost always at the bride’s home the day before the henna night.

Coverage above the elbow, second-day touch-ups and henna for the bride’s mother, sisters or close friends are all possible. Tell us the full picture when you message and we quote the whole thing at once rather than adding to it later.

How long it takes

Full bridal coverage takes four to six hours to apply. Hands and forearms only takes two to three. On top of that, the paste needs six hours minimum on the skin, and overnight is better. Plan the session for the afternoon or early evening before the henna night so the stain has the whole night to develop.

The colour is at its lightest the moment the paste comes off and reaches full depth 24 to 48 hours later. This is why bridal henna is applied a day early rather than on the morning of the event.

Choosing a style

Omani traditional uses bold geometric and floral motifs with generous open space. It reads as local, it photographs well, and it is what most Omani families expect on a henna night.

Arabic is flowing and vine-led, following the line of the hand and arm. Faster to apply and dramatic from a distance.

Indian mehndi is the densest of the three, with fine fill, paisley and mandala work covering almost the whole surface. It takes the longest and holds the most detail.

Most brides in Muscat ask for a combination: an Omani or Arabic structure with Indian-style fill in the palms. Bring photos. We would rather match a design you already love than guess at one.

How to prepare

1. Eat first. You will not be able to use your hands for several hours.
2. Do any waxing or threading a day or two before, not after. Hair removal after henna lifts the stain.
3. Do not moisturise on the day. Oils and lotions block the henna from reaching the skin.
4. Wear loose sleeves that push well above the elbow, and something you do not mind staining.
5. Set the room up warm. Heat darkens the stain. Air conditioning blowing straight at wet henna does not.
6. Charge your phone and pick something to watch. Six hours is a long time to sit.

When to book

Two to four weeks ahead is the working answer. Wedding season in Oman clusters around Eid and the cooler months, and those dates go first. If your date falls in one of those weeks, book earlier than you think you need to.

There is no deposit. You pay when the henna is finished, cash or bank transfer. If your plans change, tell us as early as you can.
