Henna services in Muscat

Henna Oman is run by Ramziya Abdulgafoor, who has been applying henna in Oman for over 13 years. The work covers three things: bridal mehndi for wedding nights, hourly henna for parties and events, and single designs for anyone who wants one. Every design is applied by hand with organic henna cones mixed in our own kitchen. Nothing pre-bought, nothing black, no PPD.

Most of our clients are in Muscat and most of our work happens in their homes or at their venue. You do not need to travel to a salon. Bookings run through WhatsApp on +968 9455 4533, and there is no deposit. You pay on the day, once the henna is done.

What happens when you book

The process is deliberately short. Henna is a same-week decision for most people and a booking should not take longer than the design.

1. Message us with the date. Send the date, the rough time, and where you are in Muscat. A photo of the style you like helps more than a description.
2. We confirm what fits. We tell you what the design will take, what it costs, and whether the slot is free. For bridal work we will usually ask a few questions about your outfit and the ceremony timing, because both affect how far up the arm the design should go.
3. We agree the time and hold it. No deposit. Your date is held on our schedule once we have both confirmed it.
4. We arrive and set up. Ramziya brings everything: cones, cushions, tissue, and a light if the room needs one. You need a chair, a table, and somewhere to rest your hands.
5. The design is applied. You are shown the outline before the detail goes in, so there is a point where you can change your mind without losing the design.
6. You pay when it is finished. Cash or bank transfer. We go through aftercare before we leave.

How long each style takes

These are working times from the moment the first cone touches your hand. They do not include drying, which adds another two to six hours depending on how much henna is on the skin.

Arabic designs are the fastest because they use bold flowing lines with space between them. Indian mehndi takes longest per square centimetre because the fill is dense and fine. Omani work sits between the two and carries the most local recognition, which is why brides here often ask for an Omani base with Arabic detail on top.

Individual and tourist henna

Single designs start at 3 OMR. This covers a simple motif on one hand up to a detailed piece running to the wrist. It is the most common booking we take, and it is what most visitors to Oman want.

Tell us how long you are in the country, because the stain takes 24 to 48 hours to reach full colour and you want to see it at its darkest.

Party and event henna

Event bookings are charged hourly from 10 OMR per hour, and one artist covers roughly 6 to 10 guests an hour depending on the design. For a party of thirty, plan for three to four hours or book a second artist.

We work Eid gatherings, wedding parties, birthdays, school events, corporate evenings and hotel functions. Designs at events are deliberately quick and fast-drying, because guests want to go back to the party rather than sit still with wet henna.

Bridal henna

Bridal work starts at 50 OMR and covers hands, arms, feet and legs in one sitting. This is the longest booking we do and the one that needs the most planning. Wedding season in Oman clusters around Eid and the cooler months, and bridal dates in those weeks go first.

Sit down for the session with your phone charged, food already eaten, and loose sleeves. Once the henna is on you cannot use your hands properly for several hours. Most brides book the session for the afternoon before the henna night so the stain has overnight to darken.

Aftercare: how to get a dark stain

The colour you end up with depends far more on aftercare than on the henna itself. Follow these and you get a deep reddish brown. Ignore them and you get orange.

• Leave the paste on as long as you can. Six hours is the minimum. Overnight is better. The longer the paste sits, the darker the stain.
• Keep it warm. Heat deepens the colour. Sit somewhere warm, avoid air conditioning blowing directly on the design, and keep your hands away from cold surfaces.
• Scrape, do not wash. When the paste is dry and crumbling, scrape it off with a blunt edge or rub it off with your fingers. Do not use water to remove it.
• No water for 24 hours. This is the rule people break most often. Water in the first day stops the stain developing.
• Oil it. Coconut, olive or mustard oil on the design before washing or swimming forms a barrier and slows fading.
• Skip the exfoliating. Henna stains the top layer of skin. Scrubs, chlorine and harsh soap take that layer off and the design with it.

The stain is at its lightest immediately after the paste comes off and darkens over the next 24 to 48 hours. Do not judge the colour on day one. Expect the design to last 7 to 14 days, longer on hands and feet than on arms, because the skin there is thicker.

Home and venue service is what we do by default. We cover Seeb, Mabela, Mawaleh, Al Khuwair, Ruwi and the rest of Muscat, and we regularly work in hotels across the city for visiting clients.

If you are outside these areas, message us with the location before you plan around it. We will tell you honestly whether we can reach you and what the timing looks like, rather than confirm and then cancel on you.
